Zambia caretaker coach Beston Chambeshi has named his 22-man squad ahead of next month’s World Cup qualifiers against Mauritania and Tunisia.
The Chipolopolo will play Mauritania on September 3 in Nouakchott before hosting Tunisia four days later in Ndola in Group B matches.
The list comprises thirteen local-based players, seven foreign based luminaries and two un-attached players.
Chambeshi arrived at the final list after gauging the mantle of his charges after a series of intensive training sessions that the team has been undergoing in Marrakech, Morocco.
England-based duo of Enock Mwepu and Patson Daka have made to the squad with Sweden-based Edward Chilufya and Lubambo Musonda who turns for Danish outfit AC Horsens also making the cut.
Chambeshi has dropped Napsa Stars duo of Jimmy Mukeya and Luka Banda, Nkana’s Kelvin Malunga and Patrick Gondwe together with Felix Bulaya of Red Arrows.
Chambeshi will take charge of the team until a successor to Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic, who left in July, is appointed.
The caretaker coach is remembered for guiding Zambia to the 2017 Under-20 FIFA World Cup where they reached a historic quarterfinal place.
