Ghana
Akwasi Frimpong is a Dutch-Ghanaian sprinter, bobsledder, and skeleton athlete who’s ready to make history by becoming the first Ghanaian athlete to represent his country in the 2018 Winter Olympics in Skeleton. He is a winner of 4 bronze, 4 silver, and 8 gold medals in various national and international sport events.
Kenya
Sabrina Simader will be representing Kenya in the Alpine skiing discipline. Simader will become only the second Kenyan to compete at the Winter Games after Philip Boit, a former middle distance runner who participated in cross-country skiing at the 1998, 2002 and 2006 Games.
Morocco
Adam Lamhamedi and Samir Azzimani will be representing Morocco in the Alpine skiing and Cross-country skiing disciplines respectively. He is a Moroccan-Canadian Alpine Skier who has competed since 2010. Lamhamedi was born in Canada and competed for Morocco at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia. Samir Azzimani is a Moroccan French Alpine and Nordic skier who competed for Morocco in the 2010 Winter Olympics. and at the 2015 Nordic ski World Championships in Falun, Sweden.
Nigeria
Nigeria’s women’s bobsled team will make history in Pyeongchang as the first African sled to compete at the Winter Olympics. Seun Adigun, Ngozi Onwumere, and Akuoma Omeoga make up the bobsled team while Simidele Adeagbo will also fly the West African nation’s flag in the women’s skeleton. South Africa
Connor Wilson will represent South Africa at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in South Korea. Wilson, 21, who competes for the SA Active Club, will compete in the Alpine Skiing event. Wilson was ranked 54th in the giant slalom and 71st in the slalom event.
Madagascar
Mialitiana Clerc was born in Madagascar, and was adopted by a French family at the age of one. She learned to ski in France. At only16, Clerc will become the first female to compete for Madagascar at the Winter Olympics.
