South Africa’s Anderson Shocks Roger Federer To Reach First Wimbledon Semis

South Africa’s Kevin Anderson has knocked out Roger Federer to advance to the semi-finals of the prestigious tennis tournament.

Two days after reaching his first Wimbledon quarter-finals, South Africa’s Kevin Anderson has knocked out Roger Federer to advance to the semi-finals of the prestigious tennis tournament.

Anderson booked his ticket to the semi-finals after an exciting five-set battle that ended in a 2-6, 6-7 (5), 7-5, 6-4, 13-11 victory.

Entering the court with a doubting mind against player like Federer is one factor which leads to opponents losing against the eight time Wimbledon champions in encounters. Interestingly, Anderson was a victim today after he lost the first two sets, 2-6, 6-7(5). However, the eighth seed Anderson recovered from his two sets lost and fought back and won the third and fourth sets to send the match into a fifth and deciding set.

“I’m not sure what to say right now. I tried my best to keep fighting and was able to scrape through the third and fourth set. By the end I was able to do a great job and I wasn’t thinking too much. Against someone like Roger, if you go out there with doubts, like I did in the first set, it’s not going to go well. Beating Roger here at Wimbledon is something I’m going to remember. But hopefully I have two more matches to play,” Anderson said.

The South African will face either Raonic or Isner in semi-final.
