Clarence Seedorf Named Cameroon Coach

Cameroon have named former Holland star Clarence Seedorf as their new national team coach.

The five-time Africa Champions had been without a substantive head coach since firing Hugo Broos from the Den in December last year after the Indomitable Lions failed to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Seedorf will be assisted at the helm by former PSG sporting director Patrick Kluivert, according to the announcement that was made by Ministry of Sports which added that the length of the contract will be made public by end of this month.

The West African country had been linked with ex-England boss Sven Goran-Eriksson but the deal did not go through.

The former Real Madrid midfielder, Seedorf has managed three clubs since retiring as a player in 2014.

He coached AC Milan, Shenzhen and Deportivo La Coruna before taking up his new position in charge of the Indomitable Lions.

Kluivert, who in his days turned up for Ajax, Milan, Barcelona among others, has had assistant roles at a number of sides and been a director of football at PSG.

The duo’s first competitive match will be a trip to play Comoros as part of their preparations for 2019 Nations Cup tournament to be held on home soil.
