The Algerian Football Association has taken a step in an attempt to defuse the growing tension that has forced a local club chairman threatening to withdraw his team from the domestic premier league.
The North African country’s football boss Kheireddine Zetchi invited top-tier side JSK Kabylie’s Chairman Cherif Millal at the FA headquarters aimed at allaying fears of one of its domestic league giants boycotting future games.
Cherif recently accused the league’s Organising Committee (OC) of calculated moves, which he said, caused JSK’s relinquishing the top spot recently having led the log from the start of the season.
The comments, as expected, did not sit well with the organizing committee who slapped a six months suspension on Millal.
Cherif’s growing animosity with the OC’s boss Medouar spans back to the time he declined to vote for the latter during the organizing committee’s congress instead throwing his weight behind the Algerian FA-backed Oran El Moro candidate.
Early this week, the JSK supremo resorted to lodging a complaint to FIFA for immediate intervention, who it’s believed, ordered the FA to mediate between the warring factions.
During his discussion with Zetchi –held behind closed doors – according to a source, Millal laid bare to the FA problems confronting his club and lamented the issue of poor refereeing.
JSK last won the Algerian Premier League twelve years ago and are ardent on breaking that hoodoo by audaciously going for gold this term having narrowly escape demotion the previous campaign.
Meanwhile, it is being reported in the Algeria press today morning that Millal could see his ban quashed or drastically reduced though the FA and the Algerian Professional Leaorganizerssers are yet to confirm or deny the claim.
