Tunisia’s 34 year-old Harbaoui is Belgium’s Top Scorer

Hamadi Harbaoui is Belgium First Division A’s leading scorer after his hat-trick on Saturday evening.

A shadow of his former self the previous season, Hamadi has risen from the doldrums to make a surprise gatecrash in the race for the golden boot.

As the battle to claim a place in the UEFA Europa League play-offs hots up, Harbaoui was intent on scoring as much as he could, pulling off three successive goals in Cercle Brugge 6-2 hammering Zulte-Waregem over the weekend.

Tanzania’s Mbwana Samatta had been leading on the scoring charts prior to kick off but veteran Hamadi upstaged him with his triplets with the first coming after just eleven minutes ticked before the second nestled in five minutes from the break and the third being a spot-kick effort.

Consequently, the North African is now on twenty-three goals as against Samatta’s twenty.
