AS Monaco’s new signing Islam Slimani has vowed to give his all t0 the former French league champions pursuit of glory this season.

The Algerian is the latest of a long list of arrivals at the Stade Louis II under gaffer Leonardo Jardim.

Considered a surplus to requirements at Leicester City, the 31-year-old effects the switch in a change of scenery that would see him seek playing minutes at Monaco where he’s on loan with a view to pen a permanent contract.

And following his passing of a medical, the striker, who failed to dislodge Jamie Vardy as The Foxes’ preferred forward, voiced willingness at his unveiling.

I am very happy to be involved with AS Monaco, a big club that aims to fight for the first places in the championship and to qualify for European competitions. I will give everything to help the Club achieve its goals,” he told the club website.

The erstwhile Portuguese league’s top scorer and Sporting Lisbon playmaker spent the previous term on loan at Fenerbahce playing twenty-five matches for the Turkish Super Lig side.

“He is a powerful striker and scorer who has demonstrated his qualities in the Portuguese and English championships in particular, but also in international competitions. Islam will strengthen our offensive potential and will also put its experience to benefit the group and the youngest,” Monaco’s president Oleg Petrov says.

Leonardo is thriving under pressure and hopes the acquisition of the North African eases off Monaco’s worries upfront.

Monaco are still to pick a win compared to title rivals Lyon who’ve gotten off to a flying start with two straight wins.
