Kenyan Premier League big spenders Wazito FC have raided Ethiopian heavyweights, St George, to acquire Togolese defender Esuf Bourhana for an undisclosed period.

The lanky defender has been brought in to replace Burundi national team captain Karim Nizigiymana who left after the end of his contact with the Aidos Kuneen sponsored outfit.

Bourhana said he is excited to join Wazito and is looking forward to learning and becoming a better player.

“I am happy to join an ambitious team like Wazito FC. The team has set high targets and I want to part of this exciting project. I know that we have very good players in the team and I will have to work very hard in training to be among the starters”, the defender told the club website.

Bourhana landed in Nairobi late last month to attend trails with the club after the recommendation of Wazito coach Stewart Hall.

“The coach recommended his signing and we are happy to have him on board. He is a Togo national team player and that’s enough proof that he is a good player. We are confident of his abilities and I want to welcome him to the club,” said the club’s Chief Executive Officer Dennis Gicheru.

Wazito have already captured immediate former KCB left-back Dennis Nganga and are said to be eyeing AFC Leopards goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan.

The raids are part of is part of club president Ricardo Badoer’s ambitious plan to assemble a formidable side that will challenge for the championship and other trophies this season.

The Kenyan Premier League mid-season transfer window opened on January 1 and will be closed on the 31st.
