Kenyan Defender Eric Ouma Makes Debut For Swedish Side AIK

Kenya international defender Eric Ouma made his debut for Swedish side AIK Fotboll by coming off the bench to play in their 2-1 win over Karlstad in a friendly encounter this weekend.

The former Gor Mahia defender moved to the Swedish top tier side in November but has failed to beat the competition to get first-team playing time under his belt.

But on Saturday when AIK took on the Swedish Division Three side, Ouma was introduced by coach Rikard Norling in the second half and was handed the usual left-back playing role.

It would turn out to be a night to remember for the Harambee Star defender, who wears the jersey number 25.

His power at the backline was something that his opponents struggled as he provided a sublime assist to Felix Michel for AIK’s second goal.

Ouma continued to impress throughout the game. His work-rate, positivity in possession and willingness to get stuck in make him an extremely effective defender.

There was a moment after the game where Ouma was singing with the club’s supporters who have shown their love for him from the word go.

With his maiden appearance successful and now behind him, the Kenyan international will be seeking to play more matches for the Swedish side.

Ouma was confirmed AIK player for this season after signing a five-year deal that keeps him at the club until the summer of 2024.

AIK is the fourth team for the 23-year-old who started his career at Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia in 2016 where he made a total of 22 appearances.

Ouma then made his first move abroad a year later, where he joined Georgian outfit, Kolkheti Poti.

The Kakamega High School alumni then switched to Vasalund in 2018, before signing for AIK.
