Al Hilal’s Opponents Al Ahly Arrive In Khartoum

Al Hilal’s opponents in the final round of the 2019/2020 African Champions League group matches, Al Ahly, arrived in Sudan on Thursday in readiness for Saturday’s clash at Al Hilal Stadium.

Nicknamed the Red Devils, the team arrived shortly after 9 pm local time and will put up at a Khartoum Hotel as they set for the decisive Group B match.

Al Ahly are expected to hold only one training session on Friday before the historic match on Saturday starting at 10.00pm.

Samir Adly, the administrative director of the Egyptian side had preceded the mission to Khartoum two days ago, to check on all the arrangements there, in coordination with the technical staff of the team, and Sayed Abdel-Hafiz, the football director.

Al Hilal boosted their hopes of reaching the last eight of the Champions League after beating Zimbabwe’s FC Platinum 1-0 in the 5th round of group games on Saturday.

Al Ahly are at the top of a tight Group B with 10 points, one ahead of Al Hilal and Etoile du Sahel, with one match remaining in the group phase.

The Blue Waves need a win at their Omdurman fortress in their final match to qualify for the quarter-finals.

A draw or a win for Al Ahly will see them advance as the group leaders regardless of the outcome of the other match between Tunisia’s Etoile du Sahel and Zimbabwe’s Platinum.
