Tapuwa Kapini Denies Retirement Talk

South Africa based Zimbabwean goalkeeper Tapuwa Kapini has rubbished plans for retirement anytime soon despite pressure from his legion of fans.

The 35-year-old custodian is on the books of Premier Soccer League outfit Highlands Park, having played for a number of Absa Premiership sides throughout his career.

Kapini was an injury concern at the beginning of the 2019/2020 season, having undergone a right shoulder operation following an injury that has been recurring since 2015.

The former Amazulu goal minder only made a return to action against Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup quarterfinal clash two months ago.

The Harare-born player says he has no doubt about continuing with his career because he has a lot to offer to the club and his country.

“There is no way that I am considering retirement. I still have a lot to offer,” Kapini said in an interview with South African television, Supersport.

“I will see as time goes by, but at the moment I am not thinking of retiring.”

Kapini started his career in South Africa playing for the now-defunct Platinum Stars.

The Warriors shot-stopper is best remembered for helping the Lions of the North gain promotion into the top tier of South African football two seasons ago.
