Top Simba Official Resigns To Join Rivals Yanga

Tanzania Premier League champions Simba SC have announced the departure of Chief Executive Officer Senzo Mbatha from the club.

Tanzania Premier League champions Simba SC have announced the departure of Chief Executive Officer Senzo Mbatha from the club.

Mbatha, who worked in the past for South Africa Premier Soccer League giants Orlando Pirates, has quit the Msimbazi Reds after one year of service.

Simba announced Mbatha’s sudden resignation on their website hours after rumours went across social media networks of his imminent departure from the Dar-es-Salaam giants.

“Simba Sports Club has received with concern the decision of Mr. Senzo Mbotho Mazingiza of his resignation effective immediately. On behalf of the club, we are writing to inform the public that the club shall not be responsible for any ongoing communications and deals with the said individual,” the club said in a statement.

Ducor Sports understands that Mbatha took the decision to leave the club following the controversial transfer of Ghanaian midfielder Bernard Morrison on a free transfer from Yanga.

“The Board of Simba Sports Club has summoned him (Mbatha) to address the pending concerns and to conduct a professional handover as soon as possible,” adds the statement.

Sources indicate that the Vaal-born football administrator has now joined rivals Yanga as the new Chief Executive Officer.

Mbatha announced his exit from Simba in a tweet but he failed to mention what made make the shocking exit after steering the club to the Community Shield, Vodacom Premier League and Tanzania league cup in the 2019/20 season.

“A special thank you message to Simba SC leadership for providing me the opportunity to lead this great club,” he tweeted.
