South Africa Premier Soccer League side Chippa United have officially parted ways with coach Lehlohonolo Simon Seema after a dreadful series of poor results and performances below the required level.
Consequently, the team has announced the appointment of the controversial Belgium coach Luc Eyamel who left his former club Dar Young Africans after calling supporters “dogs and monkeys”.
Seema was serving suspension from the position after he received an email on Tuesday from United’s owner, Siviwe Mpengesi.
However, the club has relieved Seema of his duties as he just recorded one win in his last eight games in the Chilli Boys dugout.
“Chippa United Football Club have appointed Belgian Luc Eymael as senior head coach until the end of the season,” the statement read.
“Eymael’s first match in charge will be the DStv Premiership fixture against SuperSport United at Lucas Moripe Stadium when the season resumes in the New Year on 6 January 2021.
“The club confirms that it met with former coach Lehlohonolo Seema on Wednesday, where the consensus from both parties was to part ways with immediate effect.
“This decision comes after an indifferent start to this season with the team currently in 14th place on the league standings after eight matches.”
Seema was appointed as Chippa United coach in July replacing Rhulani Mokwena who left the club after the lapse of his loan deal from Orlando Pirates.
He had been the coach Bloemfontein Celtic for seven years between 2013 and 2020.
During that period, he worked in different capacities including performing the role of assistant coach and caretaker coach before being appointed permanently as head coach in 2019.
