Diatta signed a five-year deal with the Monégasques on Thursday to mark his third professional club.

The 21-year-old joined the club in a deal worth around £15m following his exit from Belgian champions Club Brugge.

Diatta netted 10 goals in 19 league matches this campaign making him a prospect of four English Premier League clubs including Manchester United.

Speaking after signing on the dotted line for Monaco, the skillful attacker said he is pleased to make the move while expressing his gratitude to his former employers

“I am very happy to join AS Monaco and to have the opportunity to progress with such a recognized and ambitious French club whose history is well known to everyone,” Diatta told the club website.

“I can’t wait to discover these new surroundings and to work hard with my new team-mates to give back to the club the trust it has placed in me.”

Monaco’s Chief Executive Officer Oleg Petrov reacting after the deal stated he was pleased to receive Diatta in his team.

“We are delighted that Krépin, who was sought by many European clubs, is joining AS Monaco. He is a talented young player who has shown a lot of quality in the Belgian league and is determined to continue his progress in Monaco in Ligue 1,” Petrov said.

“This demonstrates the attractiveness of AS Monaco and testifies to the efforts undertaken by the club to increase the team’s potential over the long term,” added Petrov.

Diatta started his professional career at Norweigan side Sarpsborg 08 before being snapped up by the Belgian giants Club Brugge.

The youngster has made 10 appearances for Senegal and was named Young Player of the Tournament at the Africa Cup of Nations in 2019.
