KCCA Part Ways With Long-Time Coach Mike Mutebi

KCCA FC parted with coach Mike Mutebi on Monday after a poor run of results left them fourth in the Uganda Premier League.

His departure comes a fortnight after 1-0 defeat at the hands of defending champions Vipers , KCCA’s third loss in the last three games.

Mutebi, who was the longest-serving active coach in the league, will not be in charge for the second-leg of the StarTimes sponsored league, the club said in a statement.

“KCCA FC and the Manager, Mike Hillary Mutebi have today, the 29th of March 2021 agreed by mutual consent to terminate his employment with immediate effect,” read the club statement in part.

The experienced gaffer led KCCA to three Uganda Premier League titles, Two Uganda Cups, Four Super Caps and One CECAFA Club Championship trophy but the club struggled this season and have only managed 8 wins in 15 competitive games.

KCCA also announced that Mutebi’s assistant Morley Byekwaso takes charge of all first team duties as the interim manager immediately.

KCCA have 27 points after 15 games, nine points behind table leaders URA FC and ways out of African Champions League and Confederation Cup qualifying places.

Byekwaso’s first game in-charge will be at home to bottom side BUL FC on April 2 after the international break.
