Fasil Kenema are the 2020/2021 Ethiopian Premier League champions with four matches to the end of the season.
Their stunning success was secured without kicking the ball, after Ethiopia Coffee failed to beat Wolaitta Dicha at the Hawassa Stadium.
The Emperors now have nothing to worry about Ethiopia Coffee;even in the event of winning all their left three matches, they could only manage 47 points.
Fasil are currently on 49 points and on Saturday Wolkite Ketema will be expected to mount a guard of honour for the champions as the latter trudge from the dug-out on to the pitch.
The Emperors have won 15 games, drawn four and have only lost one out of 20 games.
The Godar-based side have striker Mujib Kassim to thank as his goals have delivered most of the wins alongside the amazing marksman Shemeket Gugsa.
Fasil Kenema earned its first promotion to the Premier League after the 2006-07 season and in their inaugural campaign during the 2007-08 season, they struggled to keep pace with most of the clubs.
The club’s stay in the top tier of Ethiopian football would be shortlived as the club was relegated back to the Higher League after their inaugural 2007-08 season.
They returned to EPL in 2016 was able to place in 6th place that season and went on to secure their stay in the top tier.
Fasil was Ethiopia’s representative in the 2019-20 and 2020-21 CAF Confederation Cup by virtue of the club capturing 2019 Ethiopian Cup.
