Kenya national team captain Victor Wanyama has admitted that he would be open to joining three top South Africa Premier League clubs at some stage in future.
The 29-year-old has been in fine form for Major League Soccer side Montreal Impact since completing the move from English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspurs in March last year.
Wanyama has played in England, Scotland and Belgium in his 13years of professional football and it seem he’s not thinking about retiring now.
“Maybe in the future one day I would love to have that experience [of playing in Africa], I like all the top teams in South Africa, Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and of course Mamelodi Sundowns,” said Wanyama as per Kick Off Magazine.
“I supported them when I was young watching Surprise Moriri and all of those guys, it was nice to watch how they play.
“I would say I do support them now because my Kenyan companion [Brian] Onyango is there and my friend, the Uganda goalkeeper Denis Onyango, that’s why I always watch their games and support them fully.
“These teams I have mentioned [I would play for], Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates – they play really nice football to watch.”
Wanyama made his international debut in 2007 against Nigeria aged just 15 and moved to Belgium the following year.
He moved to Scottish side Celtic from Belgian club Germinal Beerschot for an undisclosed fee in July 2011.
He arrived at Tottenhami n June 2016, making 47 appearances in all competitions for the Lilywhites.
A knee cartilage injury at the start of the following campaign, and more knee issues in 2018-19, derailed his Spurs career and limited him to just 24 more starts.
