Kaizer Chiefs emerged 4-0 winners over Simba in the CAF Champions League quarter-final first-leg game played at the FNB Stadium, Johannesburg on Saturday night.
The Amakhosi scored twice in each half against Tanzania’s Msimbazi Reds to grab a first-leg advantage at home.
The home side took an early lead through Eric Mathoho who scored a stunning header to make it 1-0 for Kaizer Chiefs in the sixth minute.
The Amakhosi continued to marshal proceedings after that and doubled their lead in the 36th minute when Nurkovic got on the end of a well-taken delivery by Frosler to head into the net.
Ten minutes later only a brilliant save from the Aishi Manula saw Simba stay two behind when Lebobang Mayama met a right wing cross from Cardoso, but his header was palmed away from danger in acrobatic fashion.
Manula was called into action again two minutes before the break, this timethe shot-stopper was at full stretch to turn a Philani Zulu 30-yard shot around the post.
The first stanza ended 2-0 in favor of the home side.
The game continued in the same fashion after the restart and finally Chiefs made their pressure tell in the 57th minute with Nurkovic’s second goal of the game after sending a powerful volley from Castro pass, 3-0.
Six minutes later, Casto found the fourth goal for Chiefs when he broke behind the defence to send a diving header past Manula,4-0.
Simba will host Chiefs in the second-leg encounter at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in the Tanzanian city of Dar es Saalam on Saturday, 22 May 2021.
