Mozambique walloped Lesotho 5-0 at an international friendly played on Wednesday afternoon at National Stadium in Maputo.
The game which was played in an empty stadium due to coronavirus restrictions saw the Mambas rout Sihlangu comprehensibly, without actually breaking much of a sweat.
Mozambique broke the deadlock on the fifth minute, as Bruno Langa outran the Sihlangu defense and with a bit of luck from a defender put the ball beyond the reach of Lesotho goalkeeper.
Four minutes later, Melque Alexandre added the second as he got on the end of a trademark through-pass from Milton Ernesto.
Estevao Novela got his name on the score sheet as he nodded home from an unmarked position to take the game beyond the Sihlangu
Lesotho, meanwhile, were on the back foot throughout the first half and failed to create any clear cut openings.
The hosts came out a stronger side in the second half and had a couple efforts at goal, with Matinho Thauzene going closest with a volley that sailed just wide.
Ernan Siluane came to Mozambique’ rescue in the 65th minute, the shot-stopper came rushing off his line to deny Tau Masiu from close range.
Novela got his second of the game in the 76th minute, the striker rifled the ball past Monaheng Ramalefane at the near post, after being played in by Mathe.
Salas Malico rounded off the scoring with the final kick of the game, as he turned home Langa’s cross with a powerful finish from the edge of the area.
