Francis Kahata Leaves Simba

Tanzania Premier League giants Simba Sports Club have agreed to part ways with Kenyan midfielder Francis Kahata.

The 29-year-old joined the club three years ago from Kenyan Premier League side Gor Mahia but found the going tough at the club in the last season.

Kahata was de-registered from Simba’s league squad in the second half of current season but featured for the club in all ten matches in the 2020/2021 African Champions League.

The left-footed midfielder wanted to remain with Msimbazi Reds but the talks collapsed after the club made a turnaround regarding the payment structure that was agreed upon, according to reports.

Confirming his departure, Kahata appreciated the club management for the great time they accorded him.

“We have been negotiating with the Simba management and have reached an agreement to part ways at the expiry of my contract,” said Kahata as quoted by Goal Africa.

“After being omitted from the league and Tanzania Cup squad, my main assignment was in the Champions League. After we were eliminated, it means I will not be playing any competitive match for Simba; they will settle my dues for the remainder of my contract.

“I appreciate the chance to play for them and what we have achieved together.”

The Kenyan international played a crucial role in the club’s success and won two Tanzania Premier league titles, the Community Shield and the Tanzania Cup.

At Simba, the midfielder was taking home USD 3,500 monthly salary plus a fully furnished house, having pocketed USD 40,000 as sign on fee.
