Wolaitta Dicha midfielder Gatoch Panom has officially left the club and joined another Ethiopian Premier League (EPL) side St George SC.
The midfielder has been a long-term target for the 29-time EPL champions and they have now managed to secure his services for the next two seasons.
The former El Gouna star agreed on every aspect of the latest contract – after prolonged negotiations – that the Horsemen dangled in front of him.
“We are pleased to have completed the signing of midfielder Gatoch Panom. Panom has put pen to paper to a two-year deal ahead of the new season,” a source at St George confirmed on Saturday.
“The midfielder joins us from Wolaitta Dicha for the next two seasons.”
Panom has established himself as one of the premier midfielders in the league and national team coaches have maintained him for the past international assignments.
The 30-year-old started his professional career with Ethiopian Coffee in 2012 and earned his first international call-up to the Ethiopia national team while playing for the club.
He then moved to Russia where he joined Anzhi Makhachkala, signing a three-year contract.
After six months with the Russian club, the midfielder parted ways with the side on a mutual agreement and joined Egyptian side El Gouna.
He left Gaouna after one season and joined another Egyptian Premier League side Haras El-Hodood before making a switch to Al Anwar SC in Saudi Arabia where he later left for Wolaitta Dicha.
Panom has made 29 appearances for Ethiopia and has seven goals for the East Africans since his international debut made in January 2014.
