Uganda and Kenya played to a goalless draw in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Thursday afternoon.
The two East African neighbors locked horns in a Group E game which was played at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.
Harambee Stars made the first entry following a slow period ten minutes in after Masoud Juma beat one challenge from a corner-kick to unleash Michael Olunga, who scooped over the top.
Another delivery from a corner minutes later had Hassan Abdallah nestle the top of the net following a snap shot on the edge of the area whilst the visitors struggled to gather ground.
The host threw more threats 12 minutes before halftime from a close-range free-kick outside the area by Emmanuel Okwi, but Ian Otieno pulled off a smart save.
Uganda came close too in the last minute to the interval when Khalid Aucho headed a cross from the right-side narrowly wide of the bottom-corner.
Kenya came out strong in the second half and had the first real chance on goal in the 53rd minute with Eric Omondi trying his luck from long range, but Charles Lukwago produced a great acrobatic save to deny him.
Olunga looked to give Kenya the lead on 60 minutes from a one-two and surging run towards the danger area, but in the end he went wide of Lukwago’s net.
Uganda continued to push the host ten minutes later after a low rasping strike from Murushid Juuko had goalkeeper Otieno in a spot of bother.
Harambee Stars finished strongly minutes to the end as Masoud Juma headed a long-throw in inches wide before a block from Mustapha Kiiza prevented Jackson Macharia soon thereafter.
