Liberia will square off with Central African Republic in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Stade de la Reunification in Douala, Cameroon on Monday.
Kick-off is at 16h00 GMT.
The match will be played in unfamiliar venue as Liberia currently doesn’t have a stadium that fulfills the required standards set by CAF and FIFA to host international matches.
Liberia lost 2-0 away in their opening 2022 World Cup Group C qualifier which was against Nigeria on Friday, September 3.
The Lone Stars put in a good performance against the Super Eagles, but will need to up their game, especially in an attacking sense, if they are to get the better of their visitors.
Liberia are placed fourth on Group C standings with zero points, while Central African Republic are third with one point garnered in their 1-1 draw against Cape Verde in the opener.
Marcus Macauley, who turns for Jordanian top-flight side Sahab, is one of Liberia’s key players and the midfielder will look to inspire his side to its first Group C win.
Peter Butler, the Liberia coach, will be without the services of forward Mohammed Kamara ,who disappeared from camp, and skipper Allen Njie who picked up his second booking in the competition following Friday’s 2-0 defeat to Nigeria.
Liberia have never previously qualified for the World Cup and have only competed in the Africa Cup of Nations on two occasions, most recently in 2002.
Meanwhile, Central African Republic will be looking at maintaining their good run in the qualifiers, hoping to build on the momentum following their surprise draw against Cape Verde last Wednesday.
This was new Les Fauves coach Raoul Savoy’s first competitive match in charge of the team – having been reappointed in September.
Tokelo Rantie, who is plying his trade in France for Union Sportive Créteil-Lusitanos, is Central African Republic’s dangerman and he will be keen to help his side beat the Lone Star.
Central African Republic are currently holding their camp in Cameroon in preparation of the crunch fixture.
Next up for Liberia is back-to-back qualifiers against Cape Verde while Central African Republic will take aim at Nigeria home and away matches next month.
