Zambia went down 2-0 to Tunisia in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification Group B match played at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on Tuesday afternoon.
Tunisia made a telling start in the first in ten minutes from kickoff, going in front through a penalty which Wahbi Kazri ticked comfortably.
The youthful Chipolopolo tried to grab an intimidate response quickly thereafter, but the Carthage Eagles locked the doors to any potential breakthrough.
Tunisia attempted to catch Zambia off guard in the 20 minutes through a mistimed ball that landed at the feet of Ferjani Sassi, who wasn’t able to punish the Copper Bullets.
The first sight to goal for Zambia presented itself to Brian Mwila right after the half-hour mark, but the diminutive midfielder again failed to trouble Ben Mostapha.
Zambia applied intense pressure on the hosts in the earlier minutes, with a vicious free-kick from Dickson Chapa posing a serious threat.
Tunisia came to life again shortly thereafter and threatened a second from a delivery across the face of goal after a nice passing move, but Dylan Bronn missed target.
Uncertainty in the Carthage Eagles defence later on had Yessine Meriah clear, but Elyess Skhiri’s goal-line clearance saved the day before Mohamed Romdhane missed a one-on-one at the other end.
More positive spells followed the Chipolopolo in the closing quarter, as Clatous Chama dragged a cutback from Jimmy Mukeya narrowly past the bottom-corner.
The Carthage Eagles however had the last laugh with Anis Ben Slimane firing the winner in the final minute of added time for a decent away win.
