Tanzania Premier League giants Yanga have lost appeal against former player Bernard Morrison whom they insisted breached his contract and signed for rivals Simba Sports Club at the start of the 2020/2021 season.
The club contested a decision made by Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) to clear the Ghanaian attacker to play for their rivals while still contacted to them.
TFF initially ruled on the case in August 2020, where they stated that Morrison was free to play for Simba Sports Club after refunding $25,000, which Yanga refused to accept the decision and initiated proceedings against the Ghanaian.
Yanga appealed at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and after the hearing of both parties on July 29,2021 by video conference, the case has now been dismissed.
“In such decision, Bernard Morrison’s term with Young Africans Sports Club was deemed to have concluded at the end of his first contract on 14 July 2020. A second, disputed, contract was deemed to have not been entered into by Bernard Morrison and he was ordered to repay the amount of USD 30,000 paid to him by Young Africans Sports Club in relation to the disputed second contract,” reads the media statement.
“Young Africans Sports Club challenged such Decision at the CAS. The Club requested that the validity
of the second contract be affirmed and that Bernard Morrison be ordered to pay an indemnity of USD 200,000 to the Club for breach of contract.

Morrison made 18 appearances for Yanga after joining them from South Africa Premier Soccer League giants Orlando Pirates.
He has also played for Ghanaian Premier League outfit AshantiGold before switching to DR Congo side AS Vita Club in summer 2015.
He left Vita after one season and joined Orlando Pirates in South Africa before returning to the DRC to play for DC Motema Pembe after which he became available for Yanga as a free-agent.
