Ghana were held to a 1-1 draw by Gabon in their second 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group C match at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in the Cameroonian city of Yaoundé.
Andre Ayew gave Ghana the lead on 18 minutes with a volleyed goal before substitute Alleviah netted the leveller with two minutes to the end of the match.
Both teams started brightly with Aaron Boupendza close to an opener with just three minute of the game gone with a header he powered over the Ghana’ goal, from a looping cross from Johann Obiang.
Gabon stopper Jean Noel Amonome then needed two attempts to get hold of a Thomas Partey cross at the other end as the home side started to look threatening.
Two minutes later, Andre Ayew then received the ball in the middle of the pitch before making a great turn and striking from 25 yards out. His low driven effort swerved into the bottom left corner and past a helpless Amonome.
Andy Yiadom was on hand to head clear a good ball into the box with Guelor Kanga lurking while Denis Bouanga was unable to direct Andre Biyogo Poko free-kick on target under a strong challenge by Daniel Amartey
Jordan Ayew really should have hit the target again from inside the box on 43 minutes but could only smash the ball well over the bar.
The match went into the interval with Ghana leading Gabon by 1-0.
In the first 10 minutes of the second-half it was an end-to-end affair, as both teams were looking for a goal with a sense of urgency.
Louis Autchanga went close with a right-footed shot from just outside the box that sailed just wide of Joseph Wollacott upright.
The Black Stars sat quite deep in the latter stages of the second half, with the Panthers pushing for an equaliser.
However, Gabon had their efforts rewarded when super substitute Allevinah scored a dramatic late equalizer to seal a 1-1 draw.
