Mamelodi Sundowns Eyeing A Win Over Al Hilal

South Africa giants Mamelodi Sundowns are out to ensure they retain the three points when they meet Sudan’s Al Hilal Omdurman in the CAF Champions League on Friday.

Kick-off is at 16h00 GMT.

The South Africa champions will be hoping to do well as they enter the group stages, starting with this Group A tie at home.

They will also use their home advantage to stun the Sudan Premier League giants and ensure they travel to their next game with the full three points.

In their previous match in the qualifying stages, they beat DR Congo side, Maniema Union via aggregate score of 4-2 following a 2-2 draw and a 2-0 win in the second leg.

Sundowns have been boosted by the fact that their new signing Erwin Saavedra from Bolivia has been registered to play in the CAF Champions League.

On the part of the visitors, the Blue Wave are also gunning for glory and are aware that an away match against a tough Mamelodi Sundowns will be a challenge for them.

In their last tie in the preliminary stages, Al Hilal were held to a 1-1 by  Rivers United of Nigeria and won 1-0 in the second leg.

Al Hilal secretly arrived in South Africa nine days ago as they are set to prepare themselves against one of the roughest team in Africa.

The Blue Wave giants have seven players were part of the Sudan national team that took part in the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

The match will be staged at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg after both the Lucas Moripe Stadium and Loftus Versfeld Stadium failed to meet the required standards set by CAF.

The Friday’s meeting will be fifth between the two sides, with Sundowns having won two times in their past four meetings with Al Hilal Omdurman.
