Amazulu head coach Benni McCarthy has admitted his charges were outplayed by Raja Casablanca on Friday evening in the CAF Champions League Group B match played at FNB Stadium.
Usuthu were eliminated from the competition after they suffered their third defeat in the hands of the Moroccan giants, who scored their goals through Hamid Ahadad and Ilias Haddad.
McCarthy believes that his boys played well and were almost controlling the game were it not for a ‘few errors’ they committed against the strong opponent.
“Raja [Casablanca] were just a class above us today [Friday].We played on the back foot for large parts of the game and they controlled a number of elements in the 90 minutes,” the former Bafana Bafana international said in post-match interview.
“My boys gave it their all in terms of effort and I could never fault them for that but Raja showed why they’ve won this trophy numerous times, they are better structured very well and are ruthless in front of goal.

“Then the result at the end of the game will be in favour of the opposition and that is what it was today. It was a long day. Tough luck to us.”
Amazulu now trail the Green Eagles by six points going into the final game of the group stages and will need to beat Horoya in Guinea to stand a chance of reaching the quarterfinals.
