Ghana national team head coach Otto Oddo has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to excel at the upcoming 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The Black Stars, who made their first appearance in Germany in 2006 before playing at the 2010 and 2014 tournaments, were drawn in Group H alongside Uruguay, South Korea and Portugal.
Oddo disclosed that expectations are high thus it will enable his side will do everything to put smiles on the faces of Ghanaians.
“If we’re at 100 percent, we can beat anyone,” the former Ghana international winger told CAFOnline.
“I think it is difficult and I have not really taken a critical look at the group but in football, everything is possible than in cup games because there are big teams in Divisions One and Third Division.
“But it is very interesting because you can win or lose against everything and at the level of the World Cup, everything is capable of causing an upset and so everything is possible.”
Ghana will begin their campaign in Qatar against Portugal on Thursday 24 November.
The Black Stars played the Selecao at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, losing 2-1, with Cristiano Ronaldo netting the winner in the 80th minute.
Ghana’s best appearance came in 2010 when the Black Stars reached the quarter-finals where they were eliminated by Uruguay.
The game against Uruguay will be a chance for Ghana to pay their opponents back for the pain of the 2010 World Cup.
Ghana suffered a 4-2 quarter-final penalty shoot-out defeat following a 1-1 draw after extra-time, after Luis Suarez’s handball denied the Black Stars a likely match-winner and Asamoah Gyan blasted the resulting spot-kick against the crossbar.
