Kaizer Chiefs Set To Sack Coach

South Africa Premier Soccer League giants Kaizer Chiefs will reportedly sack coach Stuart Baxter this week following a series of poor results.

According to media reports, the Amakhosi management has already made a decision on the future of the former Bafana Bafana mentor, who returned to the club in June last year.

Since his return to the Naturena-based outfit, Baxter has managed 11 wins from 26 matches and nine defeats.

Baxter had hinted that he was on his way out last weekend after few of the club fans pelted him with objects and asked that he quits.

“I don’t have any message to the fans, because if they want me to go, I will go. If the chairman (Kaizer Motaung) says to me ‘Stuart, I don’t think you are doing a good job,’ then I will walk. I’ve got no problem doing that. I will walk myself if I don’t think I’m affecting the team in a positive way, I will walk. No problem,” the Englishman told reporters.

The 68-year-old had returned to the club for a second spell after guiding the same club to two PSL league titles between 2012 and 2015.

A former midfielder, Baxter played for Preston North End, Morecambe, Dundee United, Stockport County, South Melbourne, Helsingborgs, San Diego Sockers and Orebro.

He went on to manage Orebro in Sweden, where also has spells with Halmstads and AIK. He also coached Skarp and Lyn in Norway, Vitoria Setubal in Portugal and Sanfrecce Hiroshima and Vissel Kobe in Japan.
