Namibia Beat Kenya To Earn World Cup Slot

Namibia are headed to the World Cup for the seventh consecutive time after defeating Kenya 36-0 at Maurice David Stadium in Aix-en-Provence, Marseille on Sunday.

The Welwitschias, who have been in good form in France, secured their first try courtesy of Wian Conradie before Loubster slotted over a penalty to stretch their lead 8-0.

Kenya were good at defending but some individual mistakes made Namibia earn their second try, as Conradie struck again with Loubser converting to lead 15-0 at the break.

The Simba had numerous chances in the opening stages of the second stanza, with Collins Injera straying into the touch centimeters away from the line.

Thereafter, Namibia a extended their lead with three consecutive penalties that Loubser curled over for a 24-0 lead.

The South Africans pushed forward with two tries in quick succession in the last two minutes of the match through Wian Conradie and captain Johan Deysel.

Namibia will play in Pool A at Rugby World Cup 2023, alongside hosts France, New Zealand, Italy and Uruguay.

Kenya’s Rugby World Cup 2023 dream is not over, as the Rugby Africa Cup 2022 runners-up will now take part in a four-nation intercontinental knock-out in November.
