Former Kayserispor goalkeeper Ali Ahamada has joined Tanzania Mainland Premier League side Azam FC on a three year deal.
The Comoros international has been out of action since leaving Norwergian side Brann in August 2021.
Ahamada was widely linked with a return to French football, having previously played for Toulouse and Martiguese.
Azam recently allowed Mathias Kigonya to leave upon the expiry of his contract, opting to fill his void with the free agent who will have his first taste of African club football.
“We are pleased to announce that we have entered into a three-year contract with Comoros international goalkeeper Ali Ahamada,” the Tanzanian club announced on Wednesday.
“Ahamada is one of the most experienced goalkeepers, having played for various clubs in Europe, including the French giants Toulouse, who play in the French Ligue 1.”
The 30-year-old custodian began his youth career at Martigues in France and moved on to Toulouse after eight years.
The French-born player was promoted to Toulouse’s senior side in 2011 and went on to make 109 appearances for the side.
During that period, Ahamada kept 44 clean-sheets and became famous for scoring for his side in a 2-2 draw with Rennes in 2012.
After five seasons, the former Tottenham Hotspurs target moved to Turkey where he turned for Kayserispor and Kongsvinger.
The lanky shot-stopper received his first call up to the Comoros national team in March 2016 and made his debut a historic 1–0 win over Botswana in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
