Vipers Stun Yanga In Pre-Season Friendly In Dar es Salaam

Vipers Sports Club registered an impressive pre-season victory at Yanga this afternoon courtesy of goals from Milton Karisa and Anukani Bright.

Vipers broke the deadlock in the opening minute, as Najib Yiga played a beautiful pass to Karisa before rifling home a low effort past Yanga goalkeeper Djigui Diarra.

Siraj Ssentamu could have opened the scoring in the 12th minute but the Venoms’ midfielder managed to drag his effort wide of the target, after a delightful through by Isa Mubiru.

Roberto Oliveira’s side squandered another good chance in the 18th minute this time through Mulondo, who pulled his effort horribly wide from 12-yards out.

Yanga grew stronger as the half drew to a close, but they failed to test Alfred  Muderekeza throughout the opening 45 minutes.

Alfred Muderekeza had to be at his best shortly after the break, as he came rushing off his line to deny Fiston Mayele from inside the six-yard area.

Aziz Ki tried his luck from distance 10 minutes later but the Yanga attacker fired his free kick straight at substitute goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora  who comfortably held on.

Anukani Bright increased Vipers lead in the 64th minute when he scored directly from the corner kick after Diarra failed to handle the ball with the defence napping.

Yanga were left frustrated by Mutombora in the 74th minute, as he produced a finger-tip fine to keep out Bernard Morrison  long range effort.

Vipers  also had a chance on a counter-attack five minutes later after Karisawent through on goal on the blindside but his close-range strike was blocked off the line by Mwamnyeto.

The Citizens failed to trouble the Venoms defence in the closing stages, as Vipers did well retain posession and frustrate their opponents.
