Super Eagles Defender Ruled Out For Rest Of Season

Nigeria defender Jamilu Collins , has been dealt a huge blow with news that he will not be able to recover in time to play for Cardiff City  again this season.

Collins, who joined Cardiff in MayGerman second-tier side SC Paderborn, picked a knee injury in Wednesday’s goalless draw against West Bromwich Albion.

Cardiff manager Steve Morrison says it’s a big blow to his team as Collins has been outstanding in the three championship games that the team has played.

“We won’t see him again until next season. It is gutting for the lad, really gutting,” said Morison.

“We are all here for him. We are going to make the next year the best it can possibly be for him.

“It’s the worst-case scenario. The plan will be to get him back for pre-season next year. The one thing we do know when he comes back for pre-season, we will have one hell of a left-back.

“That is something everyone can look forward to next season.”

Collins was part of Nigeria team that took part in 2021 Africa Cup of Nations where the Super Eagles were eliminated in the quarterfinals by Tunisia.

The left-back began his career with HNK Rijeka, and spent time with fellow Croatian clubs NK Pomorac, HNK Šibenik and Istra 1961 before making the move to Germany.
