Rwanda FA Cancels Anticipated Rayon Sports v Kenya Police Friendly

Rwanda Football Association  (Ferwafa) has canceled Rayon Sports’ friendly match against FKF Premier League side Kenya Police.

The two clubs had reached an agreement to meet on Saturday for a friendly clash but now Ferwafa has stopped the plan due to FIFA ban imposed after discussions with concerned parties.

“The friendly match between us and Kenya Police FC did not happen after discussions between the two teams based on the advice we received from FERWAFA,” reads a statement from Rayon Sports.

“Fans who bought tickets will be allowed to use them in the international match scheduled next week on Friday.”

Rayon Sports were to use the game as a preparatory outing ahead of their game against city rivals Police FC on match week 2 of the Rwanda Premier League on September 8th.

Kenya Police FC have been in Kigali since Thursday for a 10-day pre-season training camp in preparation for the 2022/23 Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF-PL) season.

Ducor Sports understands that the cancellation was due to Kenya’s suspension from international football due to government interference.

Raton Sports had agreed to host the friendly on Saturday at the Nyamirambo Stadium in Kigali from 6pm Central Africa time.
