Chelsea’s Retired International Hakim Ziyech Named In Morocco Squad

Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech has been named in the Morocco squad despite the fact that he’s retired from international football.

Ziyech called it a day on the international stage in February 2022 after falling out with former Atlas Lions coach Vahid Halilhodzic.

However, the  26-year-old star has been named in the squad for their upcoming friendly matches against Chile and Paraguay.

The friendly game against Chile will take place on September 23 in Barcelona, while the match against Paraguay will be on September 27 in the Spanish city of Seville.

Morocco, who are under new coach Walid Regragui, will be playing the two matches as part of preparations for the 2022 World Cup.

The Atlas Lions’ World Cup opening game will be against Croatia on November 23. Atlas Lions will then face Belgium on November 27 and Canada on December 1.

The tournament will be held for the first time in winter, between November 21 and December 18, with a total of 23 participating teams, including host Qatar.
