Asante Kotoko To Finish The Job In Kumasi

Ghana football champions Asante Kotoko will be the overwhelming favourites to progress to the round of 32 of the CAF Champions League when they host Rail Club du Kadiogo on Sunday.

The Porcupine Warriors  sealed a 1-0 victory in their first leg of their preliminary round, thanks to second half goal from Isaac Opong, and are now left with the realistic task of finishing the job at home.

Kotoko coach Seydou Zebro is relishing the stern test posed by Burkinabe giants, saying they will be ready for the match after intensifying their preparations ahead of the second leg match to be played at Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi from 3pm Ghana time.

“It’s a big game and the difference will be the supporters. Everywhere you go in Europe you will see the supporters being the number twelve man so if they really have the team at heart, then they should be here on Sunday,” said coach Zebro.

“I know Kadiogo very well, their system of play is always to attack, however we need to be focused throughout the ninety minutes.”

Kotoko will be again be without the services of Cameroonian striker Frank Mbella who missed the club’s first leg match due to an injury and could not recover in time.

“Asante Kotoko is a big club and if Mbella isn’t around, that doesn’t mean the club won’t be there. I heard he’s is an important player but I didn’t work with him but I believe those who won in Benin can equally step up for the club,” the coach added.

The winner of the two-leg match will face either Gaborone United of Botswana or the DR Congo’s giants AS Vita.
