Tunisia Post Slim Win Over Comoros In Friendly

A second-half goal by Yassine Khenissi earned Tunisia a slim 1-0 win over Comoros in an international friendly played at Stade de la Source, France on Thursday.

The Carthage Eagles were the better of the two sides and came close to opening the scoring in the seventh  minute when Farji Ssasi met a right wing cross with his thigh, but he saw his six-yard effort brilliantly saved by the Comoros keeper.

Ali Ahamada was in action again for Comoros in the 29th minute, this time flinging himself to his left to tip Khazri  header away from danger.

Ali Maaloul failed to collect with Bilel Ifa’s cross from close range before Ellyes Skhiri fired wide of the target with the Coelacanths defence exposed.

Ben Said was having a good first half between the sticks for Tunisia as he produced great saves to deny Ali Mohamed, Adel Mohamud and Naseer Chamed.

Comoros came close in the dying seconds of the half when Ali Mohamed broke into the box, but saw his 16-yard shot skim the wrong side of the crossbar.

The second half was a close-knit affair as both teams kept it tight at the back which resulted in chance son goal being few and far between.

The first real chance of the second half came on the 50th minute when Aissa Laidouni unleashed a powerful shot from just inside the box, but saw his effort well-saved by Ahamada.

Comoros nearly went ahead in the 55th minute, as Faiz Selemani close range effort forced Ben Said into a fine save, before Yacine Bourhane failed to capitalise on the rebound.

Tunisia upped the tempo as the match neared the hour mark and they managed to break the deadlock on the 58th minute courtesy of Kuwait SC striker Taha Yassine Khenissi.

As the game wore on Comoros pushed numbers forward and came close to finding the back of the in the 82nd minute when Houssiane Zakouni miscued a shot from close range following a goalmouth scramble.

Ultimately, Tunisia secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Comoros, who were unable to grab a late equalising goal on the day.
