Nigeria Drops One Place In FIFA rankings

Nigeria has fallen two places on the latest FIFA Coca Cola world rankings released on Thursday, for the month of September.

This is on the back of the Super Eagles’ 2-1 loss to Algeria in an international friendly played at Miloud Hadefi Olympic Complex in Oran.

The game was part of hundreds of international games played by nations across the globe over the last month. Nigeria moved down to position 32 a place below Costa Rica and a spot below Russia.

Senegal are still top on the African level (18th) followed by the Atlas Lions of Morocco who moved one place to position 22nd worldwide.

Tunisia is in the third position (30th) on the African pecking order, followed by Nigeria (32nd), Algeria (37th) Egypt (39th) Cameroon (43rd) and Mali (46th).

Portugal, Nigeria’s next opponents in international friendly set for November, have maintained their sixth  spot on the rankings

There is no change in the top five worldwide though Spain dropped one place to position seventh while Italy has occupied the sixth spot.

Brazil, Belgium, Argentina, France and England occupy the top five positions in that order.
