Heavy rains in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda, has led to the cancellation of the Uganda Premier League match between Express FC and Gadaffi FC.
The heavy downpour experienced at Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku turned into fully fledged deluge just five minutes before the kickoff.
Match officials have been forced to push the game to Wednesday at the same venue with the kickoff set for 2pm in the afternoon.
This decision has been officially confirmed by Uganda Premier League indicating the kickoff time change has been prompted by the need to prevent the match from being rained off as the central region is experiencing heavy rains in the late afternoons.
Express will be coming into the match following 2-0 by rivals SC Villa last weekend and will have to be at their clinical best to overcome Gaddafi who are also eager to pick their first three points.
The Red Eagles coach James Odoch is aware that the visitors have a squad comprising of players that played at Express in the past seasons as well as Wasswa Bbosa, his former boss.
“We lost our previous game against SC Villa. We are already focused on our next game tomorrow,” he told the club media as per UPL portal.
“Most of the players were from express including the coach so it turns out to be a derby as well. We shall plan very well to see that we win tomorrow’s game.”
Express and Gadaffi are 6th and 17th on the KPL log respectively although both sides are separated by three points.
