Uganda national team coach Angelo Schrinzi has named his squad for the 2022 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations.
The squad comprises two goalkeepers, namely Samson Kirya and Meddie Kibirige, five defenders and six forwards.
Baker Lukooya and Allan Katwe are some of the big names in the squad that is set to depart on Tuesday night (9PM) for Maputo, Mozambique where the tournament will be played between 21st-28th October.
Uganda are in Group B alongside defending champions Senegal, Madagascar and Egypt while tournament hosts Mozambique are in Group A alongside Malawi and Morocco.
Two-time African champions Nigeria, who were pooled in Group A, withdrew from the tournament due to lack of funds.
Uganda qualified for the 2022 edition after eliminating Comoros 9-5 on aggregate in a two-legged clash played in August.
In the last edition, Uganda went all the way to the semifinals before getting eliminated by eventual winners Senegal.
The tournament also serves as a route to the world cup with teams who progress to the knock-out round to represent Africa at the 2023 Beach Soccer World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
