Malawi Fall To Hosts Mozambique In Beach Soccer AFCON Opener

Malawi opened their 2022 Beach Soccer  Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Group A with a 4-2 loss to hosts Mozambique on Friday afternoon at Vilankulo Sports Complex, Mozambique.

Dala Simba and Sandram Saddi  scored for Malawi in the first and second period with the hosts goals coming from  Nelson Manuel, who netted a brace while Julio Manjate and Gerson Chivale netted a goal each.

Malawi were constantly pegged back by their South Africans counterparts in a thrilling opener.

The South Africans will look to bounce back on Sunday when they face Morocco at the Vilankulo Sports Complex.

Malawi are at the Beach Soccer African Safari for the first time after qualifying in their first attempt in the qualifiers.

Meanwhile, defending champions Senegal will open their campaign in Group B when they take on last edition’s semifinalists Uganda on Saturday.

Top two teams in each group will qualify to the Semifinals while those who will be on third position will meet in the 5th and 6th place classification.
