Senegal Wins Fourth Consecutive Beach Soccer Africa Cup Of Nations

Senegal have been crowned champions of the 2022 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations after a hard fought 6-5 win on penalty shootouts against Egypt at Vilankulo Sports Complex, Mozambique.

The game which had ended 2-2 during regulation time was the fourth consecutive final for Teranga Lions, who have earned a ticket to the next year’s FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.

Senegal booked their ticket to the final of the competition after beating 2021 Beach Soccer AFCON runners-up Mozambique 3-2 while Egypt downed their north African rivals Morocco by five goals to four.

Both teams had met in the group stages of the competition where Senegal emerged victorious by beating the Pharaohs in the final period, where Mamour Digne and Seydina Sene found the winning goals.

The Senegalese arrived in Vilankulo as three-time champions, having won in 2016, 2018 and 2021. To reach the AFCON, they eliminated Cameroon by a 16-4 aggregate after winning, 7-3, at home and 9-1, away.

Meanwhile, in the battles for Third Place Morocco beat Mozambique 6-4.
