Zamalek Coach Ferreira Rues Mistakes In Loss To Al Ahly

Zamalek head coach Jesualdo Ferreira believes the team went down to archrivals Al Ahly due to its own mistakes.

The White Knights lost 2-0 to the Red Devils in the 2022 Egyptian Super Cup at the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in the United Arab of Emirates.

And the Portuguese manager was left ruing defensive mistakes that failed the Egyptian Premier League champions in their battle to claim the first trophy of the season.

“We were not clear in our way of playing and we made some mistakes, and we got an early warning, so between the two halves we changed our way of playing, but sometimes things don’t go the way they want,” said Ferreira as per KingFut.

“We started the second half well, and Al Ahly was defending and not attacking at the time. Over time, we put more players in the attack and we lacked success.

“The first part of the match was more balanced, but we could not equalise, and this was unfair to us.

“Ahmed Fattouh’s injury forced me to change my plans. He is an influential player, not only defensively but also offensively. He makes the left side very strong, and he forced us to make the emergency substitution.”

The White Knights will now shift focus in the Egyptian Premier League where they are set to face ENNPI away on Wednesday.

Zamalek are currently second in the EPL table with six points after two round of matches while their opponents sit on position 12th with one point.
