Zambia Advertise National Team Head Coach Position

The vacant Zambia national team head coach’s job has been advertised by the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ).

The position became vacant after embattled coach Aljosa Asanovic, stepped down following a long-term conflict with his employer on contract issues.

Asanovic communicated the decision to resign through his lawyers in September after he coach absconded his duties for nearly two months.

The Croatia had not reported to his workstation since July 30 when Zambia lost 1-0 at home to Mozambique and crashed out of the Algeria 2023 CHAN qualifiers.

FAZ now seeks a top local or foreign coach, who has a ‘good record and has won national or international titles as a player, club or national coach’.

“The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) is the governing body of football, futsal and beach soccer in Zambia. It is a legal entity registered under the National Sports Council Act Chapter of the Laws of Zambia,” reads part of advertisement posted on the FAZ official Facebook page.

“The Association seeks to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced person to fill the position of  national team head coach.”

In an apparent bid to give their hunt significant impetus, FAZ has made it clear that the incoming coach must live in the country.

Those who believe they fit the bill are invited to submit their applications at the FAZ secretariat in Lusaka or via email before the 5 November deadline.

A shortlist of three candidates will be finalised by an appointed commission, before a successful coach and assistants will be announced.
