K.A.S Eupen midfielder Mubarak Wakaso was one of star players dropped as Ghana named their final World Cup squad.
The 32-year-old,who is on loan from Chinese club Shenzhen F.C, was named in the Black Stars’ preliminary 55-man squad, but failed to impress coach Otto Addo.
Crystal Place striker Jeffrey Schlupp and Belgium-based midfielder Mubarak Wakaso are the other notable omissions in the squad.
Former Spain international Inaki Williams and England under-21 international Tariq Lamptey have been included in the squad.
The retention of Andre and Jordan Ayew – sons of local legend Abedi ‘Pele’ Ayew – means Ghana’s most famous football family will be represented for a third World Cup.
Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott was ruled out of the tournament on the eleventh hour after he was injured in the warm-up for a League One match at Burton on Saturday.
Ghana booked their spot at the tournament by beating Nigeria in the qualification play-offs, for which they qualified by topping a group containing South Africa, Ethiopia and Zimbabwe.
The Black Stars begin their World Cup Group H campaign against Portugal on November 24, before facing South Korea four days later and concluding the group stage against Uruguay on December 2.
