Tunisia and Denmark played to a goalless draw in their opening Group D match played at Education City Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
The Carthage Eagles had a bright start, imposing on te gme high up and they nearly went ahead on the 12th minute when Mohamed Drager’s shot taking a deflection off Christenen before curling wide of the post.
Denmark got into the game after that scare, with the high press restricting Tunisia playing from the back but they could not break down the resilient defence.
However, Ismail Jebali had a great chance to put Tunisia ahead on the 24th minute after going through on goal on the right side but he was ruled offside despite skillfully slotting past Schmeichel.
Six minutes later, Denmark had their first meaningful shot on target when Simon Kajer unleashed a thunderbolt from a distance, but Aymen Dahmen made a good save.
Tunisia should have gone ahead in the 43rd minute when Jebali went on goal but inside the box his attempted chip was palmed by a brilliant Schmeicchel.
Denmark came back from the tunnel blazing and they dominated the ball at start but the Tunisians were more attacking areas of the pitch.
Substitute Mathias Jensen almost made an impact in the 69th minute but his left-footed effort from the edge of the areas sailed inches over the cross bar.
The next effort on goal came on the 71st minute when Christain Eriksen sent a powerful shot only for Dahmen to tip it over the bar for unfruitful corner .
Denmark came close more in the final few minutes of the game but Dahmen again thwarted another open chance from the Danes.
Tunisia were just hanging on in the added time and they nearly fell on a penalty but referee got it right from pitch side monitor ruling that the ball hit the arm of Yassine Meriah.
Neither side though could find the opener and breakdown each other’s defence and had to settle for a point each in the Group D clash.
