Cameroon were frustrated by a stubborn Serbia side in their second 2022 FIFA World Cup Group G match which ended in a 3-3 draw at Al Janoub Stadium in Doha, Qatar on Monday afternoon.
The draw left the Indomitable Lions and the Eagles placed third and fourth respectively on the Group G standings after match day two.
It was Indomitable Lions, who threatened first through attacking midfielder Pierre Kunde three minutes into the game after Serbia defence was caught ball watching.
Speedy winger Bryan Mbeumo whipped a cross into the box and Choupo Moting headed the ball over the crossbar with Serbia goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic rooted to the ground.
Serbia then took control of the match and Dusan Vlahovic played a low cross from the right for Mitrovic, who scuffed his shot just wide from a couple of yards out 13 minutes into the game.
It took something special from Jean-Charles Castelletto to break the deadlock on the 25th minute of the match when he tapped the ball into the ball of the net from a corner.
Strahinja Pavlovic placed Serbia level on the 44th minute through a powerful header that he connected from a Dusan Tadic’s free-kick.
A minute later, Serbians went ahead when Andrija Zivkovic laid a pass to Sergej Milinkovic-Savic who found a space on the edge of the box before powering home a low shot that Devis Epassy got a glove on but failed keep out of the net.
Seven minutes into the second alf Serbia extended their lead when Aleksandar Mitrovic added another as his side looked in complete control and cruising to a win.
But second-half substitute Vincent Aboubakar turned the game around with a fine solo run in 63rd minute before lobbing the goalkeeper.
Three minutes later, Aboubakar had another run before sending a cross to Choupo Moting who tapped home and leveled the matters.
