2023 CHAN: Ghana Arrive in Algeria

The Black Galaxies, Ghana’s local national team, have arrived in Algeria ahead of the January 13–February 4 2023 Championship of African Nations (CHAN).

After finishing their training tour in Cairo, Egypt, the Black Galaxies arrived in Algeria on January 3rd.

The home-based national team, under the direction of Coach Annor Walker, started their training camp in Cairo on December 24 and ended on January 2. During their stay in Cairo, they held rigorous training sessions and participated in two friendlies.

The Black Galaxies beat the Egyptian Under 20 side 2-0 in a friendly game at the Cairo International Stadium on Tuesday, December 27.

They also rallied from a goal down in the first half to defeat Al Ahly, one of the top football teams in Egypt, 3-1 in a friendly match.

The Black Galaxies are in Group C and will begin their CHAN campaign on January 15, against Madagascar. They will then play Sudan on January 19, and Morocco, whose participation in the competition is still up in the air, in their final group match on January 23.

Mozambique were the first team to arrive in Algeria for the tournament. Mozambique are placed in Group A alongside hosts Algeria, Ethiopia, and another uncertain participant, Libya.
