Andre Ayew Joins Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest on Thursday announced the signing of Ghanaian international Andre Ayew on a short-term contract.

The 33-year-old forward was a free agent after leaving Qatar Stars League champions Al Sadd SC.

“It’s a great feeling to sign for Nottingham Forest,” said Ayew during his unveiling ceremony.

“Steve Cooper is someone who knows me very well and knows how to work with me both on and off the pitch. We have a strong relationship, he’s a special coach and a special human being and someone who I really look up to.

“I know what I can bring to the team, I’m ready to give my all and make sure that we are able to stay in the Premier League.”

Ayew’s transfer to the English Premier League ends speculations about his future, as reports had indicated that he was on his way to his former club Olympique Marseille.

The France-born went through the club academy and was farmed out to French clubs Lorient and Arles Avignon before breaking into the first team in 2010/11.

Ayew had played in England before as he turned for Swansea, where he registered 12 goals and made five assists in 35 appearances.

He switched to West Ham United in a then club-record deal, going on to make 50 appearances in all competitions for the London club.

Ayew returned to Swansea for a club-record fee in January 2018, scoring a further 35 goals in 106 appearances for the Welsh side.

Ayew has 113 international caps and was part of the Ghana national team that participated in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
